In this post we will discuss about the short tricks of square root.
Square and square root are the very important in any competitive exams. Square root shortcut tricks without remembering this you can't survive in the exam hall. As all competitive exams are very tightly bound with time, so you don't have much time to spend on calculating squares.By knowing the shortcut to find the square root of a number, you will be able to find out the square root of any number within seconds.
Square root: The square root of a number is a value that, when multiplied by itself, give the number.
Pre Knowledge: (1) Remember the square root at least 10.
(2) To get the unit's place digit of the square root remember the following.
Let us consider an example to get a better understanding of the trick.
Example 1:
√786 = ?
Sol. :
Step 1: we start by grouping the numbers in pairs of two from right as follows.
7 84
Step 2: To get the ten's place digit, We find that nearest square to first group (7) is 4 and √4 =2
Therefore ten's place digit = 2
Step 3: To get the unit's place digit, We notice that the number ends with 4, So the unit's place digit of the square root should be either 2 or 8 (Refer table).
Step 4: Multiplying the ten's place digit of the square root that we arrived at in step 1 (2) and its consecutive number (3) we get,
2 × 3 = 6
ten's place digit of original number (8) as the unit's place digit of the square root.
unit's place digit = 8
Answer is : 28
Example 2:
√4489 = ?
Sol. :
Step 1: Grouping
44 89
Step 2: Find ten's place digit.
ten's place digit = 6
Step 3: Find the unit's place digit.
Step 4: Find the exact digit of unit's place.
6 × 7 = 42
44 > 42 , so the unit's place digit = 7
Answer is : 67
Example 3:
√16641 = ?
Sol. :
Practice Questions :
1. √2025 = ?
2. √2601 = ?
3. √9216 = ?
4. √12544 = ?
5. √24336 = ?
6. √33489 = ?
